Roxio organizes the different drivers well and you should be able to quickly find the driver that will make the device work for your computer. We were able to use the Roxio Easy VHS to DVD device with a large variety of software. We breezed through Windows Movie Maker and we were able to watch movies with fantastic quality using the VLC. We tried using the product with other Roxio software with great success. From capturing the video to making labels and burning DVDs, we found Roxio Easy VHS to DVD to be compatible with most programs. You will also be able to record copyrighted material with this unit.
At first glance, Roxio Easy VHS to DVD looks like it will be exceptionally easy to use. The driver downloads and software are all on one CD. However, after downloading the CD information we found we still could not connect the device to the computer.
We followed the concise user's manual that was included with the VHS to DVD converters. The pictures in the book were exactly like our screen, but we still had problems getting the driver to download. Next, we went to the manufacturer’s website and downloaded a driver that would allow us to finally connect to the computer. We were able to use Windows Movie Maker and the VideoLAN Client (VLC). But we were still unable to use the Roxio software that was included with the product.
After again going to the website, we found an instant chat option for help. The customer service representative gave us a patch for the software, but we had to uninstall and reinstall the software to use the patch. When we finally had the software installed for the second time, with the necessary patch, we were able to use the Roxio software.
In order to get the software to recognize the VHS to DVD converters, the customer support representative told us we needed to download the driver from the website, not the CD. While downloading a driver form the manufacturer’s website is not a very difficult process, and the chat representative gave us a link, it is still somewhat frustrating and can be confusing and difficult to find. Also, the software required a patch before we could get it to recognize the VHS to DVD converters.
Nevertheless, when everything was installed, the product was fantastically user-friendly. The Roxio Easy VHS to DVD device easily copied everything from CDs to copyrighted videos, and digitizing our materials was quick and simple. We especially liked the versatility of the product. We were able to use the Roxio Easy VHS to DVD device with any video editing software.

We tried the chat option on several different occasions with several different representatives and found it took a while for responses and sometimes the answers were difficult to understand. We recommend calling the customer support line. We found the wait time to be smaller, the responses easier to understand and the experience was much more helpful when we called the Roxio support agent.
