The EasyCAP video converter is one of the least expensive VHS to DVD converters on the market, and consequently it is unreliable and there are almost no support options. However, it is compatible with most software programs and operating systems.
The EasyCAP Video Capture device has both the composite and S-video cable option. The USB device is simple and does not include a still-frame image grabber. However, many of the video editing software applications, including Windows Movie Maker, have the option to take still-frame images.
The EasyCAP VHS to DVD converters work well with the Dynno Video Streaming Editing and Burning Software that is included with purchase. Capturing and editing videos is effortless with this fantastic software and the EasyCAP video capture device works seamlessly with the Dynno Video Streaming Editing and Burning Software. We were able to quickly transfer a video straight from a VCR to DVD. We were also able to transfer a variety of VHS tapes to our PC, included copyrighted materials.
Not only did the EasyCAP Video Capture device work with its own software, it worked with every other video capture app we could find. We were able to transfer copyrighted material and home videos. The device will also work with DVRs.
After we plugged in our EasyCAP Video Capture device we clicked on the bubble that appeared on the screen to search for drivers. About 50 seconds later we were able to connect to our computer and transfer videos using a variety of software. We tried installing the device on other computers using the CD with drivers that came with the product and using drivers from the website. Everything worked smoothly without any problems.
The next day we tried the product again with no success. We had to reinstall the drivers for the product to work. Periodically through our tests, the device was unrecognized by the computer and would not transfer any data. This problem was consistent across a variety of operating systems and programs. We never lost any data and downloading the drivers repeatedly was annoying, but not difficult.
Installing the Dynno Video Streaming Editing and Burning Software took a few minutes, but it was simple and we were able it instantly use the EasyCAP video capture device.
The EasyCAP website is cluttered and difficult to navigate. The drivers work well, but for customer support, you have to send an email. There is no telephone support or chat. There are no FAQs or user forums. The only support offered is a simple Gmail address and a Twitter account. There are some YouTube videos that will tell you more about the software included in the installation process.
When we sent an email with a question, we received a response almost immediately, but the response was not easy to understand.
The EasyCAP VHS to DVD converters are affordable tools, but not very reliable. There are few customer support options to help you when you do run into problems.
